HERE IS SOME GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE AHMADIYYAS, TWO INTENSELY ADVERSARIAL GROUPS, THE QADIANIS AND THE LAHORIS. BOTH TEACH THAT THEIR ‘MESSIAH’ MIRZA GHULAM AHMAD WAS THE FINAL MESSENGER OF GOD, INCLUDING THE KALKI AVATARA. THEY TEACH THAT KRISHNA AND JESUS WERE MUSLIM ‘PROPHETS,’ WHO HAVE BEEN SUPERSEDED BY THEIR AHMADI MESSIAH AND INCARNATION. THE MAJORITY QADIANI SECT TEACHES THAT GHULAM AHMAD WAS A ‘PROPHET’ AND THUS THEY INCUR THE WRATH OF MANY OTHER MUSLIMS. THE LAHORI SECT REJECTS THE TERM ‘PROPHET’ FOR GHULAM, THUS AVOIDING SUNNI AND SHIA MUSLIM CHARGES OF BLASPHEMY. IN ANY CASE, NO EDUCATED VAISHNAVA CAN POSSIBLY ACCEPT GHULAM AHMAD AS KALKI AVATARA! THIS MAN IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT KALKI, AND HIS OTHER CLAIMS, LIKE THE ONE ABOUT JESUS BEING BURIED IN KASHMIR ARE EQUALLY UNFOUNDED IN REALITY.

(äh m d´ y) (KEY) , a contemporary messianic movement founded (1899) by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1839–1908), b. in Qadiyan in the Punjab. His Barahin-i Ahmadiyya, which he began to publish in 1880, was well received by his Islamic community. In 1889, he announced that he had received a divine revelation authorizing him to accept the baya, the allegiance of the faithful; he later also declared himself the Mahdi and the Messiah (masih) (1891), an avatar of Krishna (1904) and the manifestation (buruz) of Muhammad. His doctrine, incorporating Indian, Sufi, Islamic, and Western elements, attempted to revitalize Islam in the face of the British Raj, Protestant Christianity, and resurgent Hinduism. After his death, his followers elected Mawlana Nur ad-Din as his successor. Nur ad-Din died in 1914, and the community split into two branches. The majority remained in Qadiyan and recognized Ghulam Ahmad as prophet (nabi). The founder’s son, Hadrat Mirza Bashir ad-Din Mahmud Ahmad (1889–1965), was chosen as caliph al-Masih II by this Qadiyani branch, known today as the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam (jamaat-i ahmadiyya). His half-century of leadership shaped the movement, operating since 1947 out of the city of Rabwah (which they founded and gave a Qur’anically inspired name) in Pakistan and administering a network of schools and hospitals. The other branch, less willing to distinguish itself from mainstream Islam, recognized Ghulam Ahmad as a reformer (mujaddid) and established what came to be known as the ahmadiyya anjuman ishaat-i Islam movement in Lahore, Pakistan. The basic belief held by the Qadiyani community is that it is the sole embodiment of “True Islam.” Both branches engage in energetic missionary activity in Nigeria, Kenya, Indonesia, and the Indian subcontinent. Orthodox Islam has never accepted Ghulam Ahmad’s visions, and Ahmadis in Pakistan have faced religious and political attacks to the extent that they have been declared apostate and non-Muslim by the country’s religious and political elite. A 1984 Pakistani government decree banned the use of Islamic forms of worship by Ahmadis. The Ahmadis today number perhaps 10 million, concentrated in Pakistan, with substantial communities in India and Africa and a global proselytizing network.
IN THE 19TH AND 20TH CENTURIES, THE AHMADIYYAS WERE LOYAL TO THE BRITISH, OPPOSING BOTH THEIR FELLOW MUSLIMS AND HINDUS ON BEHALF OF GREAT BRITAIN. AS A RESULT, THEY HAVE RECEIVED SPECIAL FAVORS FROM THE BRITISH, AND THE QADIANI HEADQUARTERS IS EVEN IN BRITAIN TODAY. FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES, THE BRITISH IN THE EAST COLLABORATED WITH THE AHMADIYYAS TO RECRUIT BOTH MUSLIMS AND HINDUS INTO THE PRO-BRITISH AHMADIYYA FOLD. THERE WAS BOTH AN EXOTERIC POLITICAL AND AN ESOTERIC RELIGIOUS SIDE TO THIS BRITISH AND AHMADIYYA COLLABORATION. AS A RESULT, ONE OF THE LASTING SIDE EFFECTS OF THE BRITISH INVOLVEMENT WITH THE AHMADIYYAS HAS BEEN A PERSISTANT AND GROWING AHMADIYYA INFLUENCE ON ENGLISH ESOTERICISM. BRITISH EASTERN ESOTERICISM, AS PROMOTED BY THE ULTRA LIBERAL OCCULTISTS OF THE PROTESTANT CHURCH OF ENGLAND (THE ANGLICAN CHURCH), IS STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY SOME OF THE TEACHINGS OF QADIANISM. JUST AS THE BRITISH ROYAL COLLEGE HAS PROMOTED INDO-CENTRIC ESOTERICISM IN THE FORM OF THEOSOPHY, OTHER BRITISH ESOTERICISTS HAVE PROMOTED QADIANISM.

In due course of time, it became obvious to Muslims that the Qadianis had the benevolent patronage of the British Raj. The Colonial Government in India at that time considered the Muslims a perpetual and potential threat. It was only 35 years earlier that the Muslims had carried out a near successful revolt, known in history as ‘The Mutiny of 1857.’ The British administration saw in the Qadianis an useful collaborator in disrupting the established doctrinal framework of Islam and started aiding and abetting them. It is under such circumstances that we see in the Qadianis literature volumes of publication preaching loyalty to the British Government. They even went so far as to declare that allegiance to the British Sovereign was a religious obligation of the Muslim Indians.

This story is as old as Pakistan and its history. During the early months of 1947, before Pakistan’s geographic boundaries had been defined, but after its advent had become a certain reality, religious groups from the undivided Punjab (India) forwarded a written request to British rulers declaring that (for the purposes of census) they should not be considered a sect of Islam, since, even though they lived in India, they had a separate identity from Muslims. Those who are familiar with the facts surrounding the birth of Pakistan, know that the First Khalifa of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani, at the wishes of his British masters and certain Hindu leaders, had put forth this request. Indeed, there was no hesitation (on the part of the British) in accepting this request. Subsequently, Muslims were reduced to a minority in Gurdaspur, Ferozpur and Amritsar (provinces), where actually they comprised 51% of the population. This was the driving force behind the unjust division of Punjab.
This action not only brought about an historically
unparalleled migration and hideous massacre (of Muslims), but also gave birth to
the Kashmir problem, which has grown today into an international issue. Another
factor that was responsible for this ugly aspect of history was that the
interest of Muslims was unfortunately represented in the Boundary Commission by
Sir Zafarulla Khan (a follower of Mirza Basheeruddin Mahmood appointed by the
British), whose spiritual leader had publicly separated his faith (from Islam)
by writing his request to the British Rulers!

Shakergarh (and its adjacent areas), Oxford (in Surrey, UK, where Ahmadiyya
Headquarters is located) and Qadian makes a triangle from where all Sectarian
Terrorism (against Muslims) is being launched in Pakistan. If the record of
movements of Qadiani leaders in these areas is charted out, a strange pattern
comes to light. This Report further has mentioned certain names and its
allegation has created astonishment and perturbation in Government Circles.
Investigations are going on at an unusual pace in this regard.
The Report has reemphasized the common knowledge of ties between Jama’at Ahmadiyya and India, Israel and the Christian World; therefore, no surprise was ever shown at this. However, (the Report states that) after the passage of the (Constitutional) Law in 1974 declaring Qadianis non-Muslims and the promulgation of Blasphemy law during the reign of General Zia ul Haq, these contacts have tremendously increased and so did the sectarian terrorism and Shia-Sunni violence and bloodshed. These connections reached their climax in 1984, when Mirza Tahir Ahmad suddenly escaped to London. Since then, establishing links, planning, and their execution have become more efficient and rapid.
THE FIRST AHMADIYYA KHALIFA (LEADER), AFTER THE THEIR ‘MESSIAH,’ WAS A COURT PHYSICIAN OF THE PRINCE OF KASHMIR. IT IS UNDER THIS 19TH CENTURY KASHMIR DYNASTY THAT MANY HINDU AND MUSLIM LITERARY PROJECTS WERE PATRONIZED, THE JESUS-IN-INDIA AND TIBET OR KASHMIR IDEA WAS PROMOTED, AND DURING WHICH THE CORRUPTED EDITION OF THE MAHA BHAVISHYA PURANA EMERGED.

Since 1908, the year of the Promised Messiah’s death, there have been four Khalifas. Allah bestowed His special favors on each one, and the Jamaat has flourished and prospered during each Khilafat. A brief summary of their achievements is given below:
Hadhrat Maulvi Nooruddeen Sahib was the first successor to the Promised Messiah (peace be on him). He was a most favorite companion of the Promised Messiah, and was the first to enter into Bai’at. Possessing vast religious knowledge, Hadhrat Nooruddeen had a very deep understanding of the Holy Qur’an. He was an eminent physician and served in the court of the Rajah (prince) of Kashmir. As soon as he heard of Hadhrat Ahmad’s claim, he traveled to Qadian to visit him. On seeing Hadhrat Ahmad, he immediately offered to enter into a covenant with him.
During his Khilafat from 1908 to 1914, Hadhrat Nooruddeen
established various Jamaati institutions including the Treasury, schools and
publications. He also vigorously upheld the institution of Khilafat against a
small minority element which wanted to undermine the Khilafat.

His achievements as Khalifa for 52 years are too numerous to mention here, but one of his most important accomplishments was the organization and establishment of foreign missions around the world, including the United States in 1920. He established Tahrike Jadid and Waqfe Jadid Schemes to fund that missionary work, and the Jamia Ahmadiyya School to train missionaries.
Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II organized the administrative body, the Sadr Anjuman, of the Jamaat into various departments and created auxiliary organizations for men, women and children. Several publications were begun under his guidance and he himself wrote numerous books. Through Divine guidance, he wrote a 10-volume commentary on the Holy Qur’an in Urdu, known as Tafsir-e-Kabir, and also wrote a short commentary, the Tafsir-e-Saghir. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II was also a great orator, and many of his speeches would continue for hours.

Upon the death of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih II, Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad was elected to be the third Khalifa in 1965. The eldest son of Hadhrat KhalifatulMasih II, he was highly educated, having obtained his Master’s Degree at Oxford University.

It was at the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Basharat Mosque that he announced the popular Ahmadiyya motto: “Love for all; Hatred for none.”
Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad became Khalifa upon the death
of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih III in June 1982 and is the present Supreme Head of
the Jamaat.

Hadhrat KhalifatulMasih IV (Hazoor) is leading the Jamaat
to new levels of unity, zeal and progress. More than 1500 new mosques and
missions have been established in the last decade; the Holy Qur’an has been
translated into more than 50 languages and the Jamaat is growing rapidly. One of
the greatest achievements of his Khilafat is the development of Muslim
Television Ahmadiyya (MTA). In 1992 on the occasion of the inauguration of
Baitul-Islam Mosque, Canada, the Khalifa’s Friday Sermon was broadcast to
every continent of the world for the first time via live satellite transmission.
In 1993, the first International Bai’at at Hazoor’s hand took place when
204,308 persons simultaneously accepted Ahmadiyyat via live satellite
transmission. This number swelled to 418,206 the following year. This year
(1995) the number was 840,000.
Ahmadiyya Communities exist in 148 countries throughout the world, and each is organized in the same way.
UNDER THE FOURTH AHMADIYYA KHALIFA, THE MOVEMENT HAS ENTERED THE HIGH TECH COMMUNICATION AGE, AND HAS GREATLY INCREASED ITS NUMBERS THROUGH CONVERSIONS. AN INSIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF THESE CONVERSIONS HAS BEEN FROM THE CHRISTIAN FOLD. THE VAST MAJORITY ARE FROM EITHER THE SUNNI OR SHIA MUSLIM COMMUNITIES, WHICH IS WHY THOSE COMMUNITIES ARE NOW RESPONDING SO STRONGLY TO THE LAHORI AND ESPECIALLY THE QADIANI AHMADIYYA CONVERSION CAMPAIGNS. THE NEXT GROUP MOST VULNERABLE TO AHMADIYYA CONVERSION IS THAT OF THE MORE MARGINAL AND ECLECTIC OF THE KRISHNA WORSHIPING HINDUS AND VAISHNAVAS. IN THE REGION OF KASHMIR, AS REFLECTED IN THE REDACTED MAHA BHAVISHYA PURANA, THERE WAS SOME INTERACTION BETWEEN GAUDIYA VAISHNAVISM AND SUFISM. THIS INTERACTION IS ALSO REFLECTED IN THE WRITINGS OF GHULAM, THE AHMADIYYA MESSIAH, WHOSE MUSLIM-HINDU SYNCRETISM MAY BE THEREFORE ESPECIALLY ATTRACTIVE FOR KRISHNA-WORSHIPING GAUDIYA LINEAGE VAISHNAVAS. AFTER ALL, GHULAM ACTUALLY CLAIMED TO BE SRI KRISHNA’S LAST YUGA INCARNATION AS KALKI AVATARA! THAT THE TOMB WAS AN AHMADIYYA CONVERSION CAMPAIGN FOCUS.
IN THIS WAY MUCH OF THE AHMADIYYA CONVERSION MISSION AGENDA IS OFTEN
CONCEALED TO PEOPLE IN GENERAL AND TO THE VAISHNAVAS IN PARTICULAR.
